Where Sky Pilot wins
We think Fileflare is the better choice for most Shopify digital sellers — but there are a few things Sky Pilot does that we don’t (yet):
Klaviyo integration
Sky Pilot integrates with Klaviyo to segment on digital purchases and downloads. Fileflare doesn’t have this yet — though we can suggest some workarounds using our sister app, Zendra, to create memberships and sync them with Klaviyo until we complete this integration.
License key delivery
Sky Pilot can generate and deliver license keys. Fileflare doesn’t support license keys yet! We’re working on this feature now and expect to release it in summer 2026.
Longer track record
Sky Pilot launched in 2013 and has been in the Shopify ecosystem for over a decade. Fileflare is newer — but actively developed and growing fast. Our customer reviews are catching up!

Yes. Every Fileflare plan — including free — includes unlimited bandwidth with no overage fees. There’s no cap, no throttling, and no surprise charges. Sky Pilot’s bandwidth is metered, with $1–2/GB overages on their paid plans.
Fileflare includes PDF stamping on the Basic plan at $19/mo. Sky Pilot requires the Growth plan at $54.99/mo — that’s almost 3× the cost for the same feature. Fileflare also includes image stamps, print lock, and annotation lock that Sky Pilot doesn’t offer.
Yes. Install Fileflare, upload your files, and attach them to your products. Fileflare’s historical order import can also import your existing Shopify orders so previous customers get access to their downloads. You can run both apps side by side during the transition.

Both apps support in-browser video streaming. Fileflare also offers an in-browser audio player, in-browser PDF viewing, and the option to embed YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, and Wistia videos on the download page — features Sky Pilot doesn’t have.
Subscriptions — yes! You can use a subscription app and offer recurring downloads, or attach a new file every month (like magazine issues). Fileflare works best with our sister app for memberships & subscriptions, Zendra. And, we have more integration features in progress, too.
License keys — not yet. Sky Pilot supports license key delivery — that’s a genuine advantage. License key support is on our roadmap and coming soon!
