When you install Fileflare on a new store, the dashboard greets you with a guided setup. It’s a short stepper that walks you through the two things that prove your store is ready to sell digital products: attaching a file to a product, and sending yourself a test order to confirm delivery works. You can do all of it before your first real sale.
When you’d use this
- You just installed Fileflare and want the fastest path to a working setup.
- You want to confirm your delivery setup end to end before a customer ever buys.
- You’re setting up a client’s store and want a repeatable first-run checklist.
How to use it
The onboarding stepper appears automatically on the dashboard for new shops. Work through the steps in order — Fileflare remembers your progress, so you can leave and come back.
1. Attach a product
The first step connects a Shopify product to a downloadable asset. Pick a product (or let Fileflare set one up for you), then attach the file or URL you want delivered when that product is purchased.
If you don’t have a product ready yet, Fileflare can create one for you so you have something to test with. You can swap in a real product later.
2. Send a test order
The second step sends a test order through your store so you can watch the whole delivery flow happen — the order comes in, Fileflare attaches the download, and the delivery email goes out — without waiting for a live purchase or spending real money.
Check that the email arrives and the download link works. If it does, your core setup is good to go.
3. Finish up
Once both steps are done, onboarding clears and the full dashboard takes over, with your stats and cards. You can also dismiss steps you’ve already handled if you set things up manually before reaching this screen.
Previews along the way
As you work through the steps, Fileflare shows preview cards so you know what to expect:
- Live-data preview — what your dashboard will look like once orders and downloads start flowing.
- Plan preview — what your current plan covers, so you can see early whether you’ll want to upgrade as you grow.
Common issues
- The test order email didn’t arrive. Check the email address on the test order and your spam folder. If you’ve set up custom SMTP, confirm those credentials are correct.
- I set things up manually and still see onboarding. Dismiss the steps you’ve already completed — the stepper clears once its steps are done or dismissed.
- I don’t have a product to attach. Let Fileflare create a product for the test, then attach a real product and file when you’re ready.
