By default, the Fileflare download page is accessible to anyone with the link — that’s how customers receive their files via email. If you want stronger protection, you can require customers to log in to their Shopify account before any download links unlock. The download page checks the logged-in customer matches the order before serving the files.
Available on the Premium plan. This is one of the strongest sharing-protection settings in Fileflare — sharing the link alone isn’t enough; the recipient also needs login credentials. Pairs well with customer account downloads.
When you’d use this
- You sell licensed content where each buyer should be the only one accessing the files.
- You’re seeing leaked download links on the open web and want to lock them down.
- You sell into a B2B or members-only context where login is expected anyway.
- You’re combining this with PDF stamping or download limits for layered protection.
How to enable
- In Fileflare, go to Settings.
- Find Download settings in the Download delivery section.
- Enable Digital Delivery page access (requires login).
- Save.
Now when a customer clicks any download link (from the email, the thank-you page, or anywhere else), they’re prompted to log in if not already authenticated. After login, the download page checks that the logged-in customer matches the order — if it doesn’t match, the page returns a “not authorized” view.
What customers see
First-time clicks redirect to your store’s Shopify login page. After login, customers land on the download page and can access their files. Subsequent clicks within the same session don’t re-prompt.
If a customer used phone-only checkout (no email), they may not have a Shopify account they can log into. Make sure your store captures email at checkout — see the setup checklist.
Common issues
- Customer says they can’t log in — they may not have a Shopify account if they checked out as a guest or used phone-only checkout. Have them create an account using the same email as the order.
- Customer is logged in but still sees “not authorized” — the logged-in account’s email doesn’t match the order’s email. Update the order’s email in Shopify or have the customer log in with the correct account.
- Affects existing emailed download links — yes. Once enabled, all download links require login, including links sent before you enabled the setting.
- I want only some products to require login — not currently supported. The setting is global. If you need per-product login gating, consider customer-account-only delivery instead.
