If you want to stop Fileflare from delivering files but don’t want to uninstall (and lose your data), turn off all of Fileflare’s delivery surfaces. Files stay in your library, settings stay, but customers stop receiving downloads. Useful for temporary pauses, transitions, or working around an issue.
Available on all plans. This is a soft-pause — your data and configuration remain intact. To re-enable, just turn the surfaces back on. For a permanent cancellation, use cancel or uninstall.
When you’d use this
- You’re between digital-downloads apps and want Fileflare on standby.
- You’re testing a setup change and want to silence Fileflare during the test.
- Your store is paused but you want Fileflare ready when you reopen.
- You’re investigating an issue and want to suppress automatic delivery while debugging.
Disable each delivery surface
Download emails
- Fileflare → Settings → Emails.
- Toggle on Disable all order download emails.
- Save.
See Disable download emails for context.
Thank-you and Order Status pages
Remove Fileflare’s app blocks from your Shopify checkout configuration:
- Shopify admin → Settings → Checkout.
- Click Customize.
- On the Thank you and Order status pages, remove the Fileflare app blocks.
- Save.
Customer account downloads
- New Customer Accounts: remove the Fileflare app blocks via Shopify Settings → Customer accounts → Customize.
- Classic Customer Accounts: remove the snippet you pasted into your theme. See Uninstall for the cleanup steps.
Shopify order confirmation email
- Shopify admin → Settings → Notifications → Customer notifications → Order confirmation.
- Click Edit code.
- Find any section wrapped in
<!-- BEGIN Fileflare code -->/<!-- END Fileflare code -->comments and remove it. - Save.
Re-enable later
Reverse each step. Toggle emails back on, re-add the Shopify app blocks, restore the customer-account snippet, restore the order-confirmation code. Settings and data are preserved through a soft-pause.
Common issues
- Customers still received emails after I disabled them — orders that had already triggered an email earlier are not retroactively suppressed. The toggle only affects new orders going forward.
- I disabled emails but downloads still show in customer accounts — disabling emails is one surface; customer accounts is another. Disable each separately.
- I want a true pause that stops all charges too — soft-disable doesn’t change billing. Downgrade to free or uninstall for that.
